In 1994, a private member’s bill was introduced by Liberal MLA Bob Chisholm. He wanted to establish Family on the third Monday in February. But the bill was defeated. Renewed attempts failed till it was finally established and observed for the first time in February 18, 2013. In 2018, the BC provincial government decided to move the holiday to the third Monday in February in alignment with those provinces who observe it on the third Monday.

To celebrate family day we have come set up a virtual festival that will have you dancing.
