Job Posting: Museum Assistant
The Port Moody Station Museum is now inviting applications for the temporary Museum Assistant positions for the summer season. We are hiring for a possibility of up to 16 weeks (dependent on funding from Service Canada and Young Canada Works). This position will be based on Museum grounds.
The successful candidates will work in our collections, help with our gardens, help with exhibit research, assist with programs, tours and special events and do other varied duties around the museum.
The successful candidates will be reliable, possess good written and oral communication skills in English, have good computer skills (MS Office 2013), take initiative and have a desire to learn more of our Country’s past. We encourage the Government of Canada’s job equity groups however; we are located in a Heritage building with stairs which does cause a barrier to some individuals.
To be eligible you must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act3; and, be legally entitled to work in Canada.
$16.40/hr plus 4% in lieu of vacation
Duration: up to 16 weeks, 35 hrs/wk
Time frame: Summer 2021, early May to early September
Language: English is essential, French an asset.
