Sealed-Bid Auction of J Peachy’s “The Station”

The Station
The Station

"The Station" by J Peachy

J Peachy is an artist, mental health advocate, radio host, comedian, and all-around great Canadian guy.  This month, he is helping raise money for the Port Moody Station Museum by donating 50% of the proceeds from a sealed-bid auction of his painting “The Station.”

In this sealed-bid auction, each bidder secretly bids without knowing how much others have offered for the painting, with a minimum bid of $50. The highest bid and the winner of the painting will be announced on July 3rd at the Museum during our 125th CPR Train Anniversary Celebration. All bidders will also be entered to win a random draw for a J Peachy print (valued at $30).

Bids can be sent in by email (to laurel@portmoodymuseum.org) or dropped off in person at the Museum, where the painting is on display daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Emails must contain your full name, email address, phone number, and your bid. The last bids will be accepted at 3:00 pm on July 3rd.

Your bid will help support the Museum and a local artist, and maybe add a beautiful new work of art to your collection!

Sporting or Recreation Artefacts or Memorabilia?

Do you have any Sporting or Recreation Artefacts or Memorabilia?

Are you a sports enthusiast or collector? Were you the athlete of the year in a past life? If so, the Port Moody Heritage Society would like you to bring in your vintage sports and recreation items for use in a temporary display this February and March.

In celebration of Heritage Week, the Port Moody Heritage Society and Port Moody Heritage Commission are putting together a display of sports and recreation memorabilia. The display will be shown at the Port Moody City Galleria and at the Port Moody Station Museum. All artifacts should be from the 1950s era or earlier and in good condition. Artifacts will be returned to the owner at the end of the display

If you have sports and recreation artifacts you can loan to the museum for the Heritage Week Community Displays, please contact Rebecca at 604.939.1648 or pmmuseum@telus.net and help with the success of the community display!

Odds and Sods Donations Needed

Do you have leftover pieces of ribbon, lonely buttons or other odds and sods around your house? The Museum is looking for donations of these items to use in our pumpkin decorating and /or clothespin dolls crafts. If you have items you would like to donate, please bring them to the Museum Monday – Friday between 9:30am and 4:30pm or Saturday and Sunday between noon and 4pm.

Ioco Ghost Town Day

Ioco Ghost Town Day is a family oriented heritage event that will be held at the Ioco lawn bowling green on Sunday October 4th from noon-4pm. The focus of the event will be a variety show with a number of different musical, dance and other performing arts acts. There will also be booths from a variety of different community organizations. The Port Moody Heritage Society is in charge of the hot dog concession and providing crafts and games for kids. We are looking of a variety of volunteers to help out. As part of a fundraiser for the Port Moody Station Museum, the Museum will receive $50 for each volunteer that participates in this event. We need 5 volunteers for the concession stand, 8 volunteers for children games and crafts, 2 volunteers to help set up and take down tents, and 1 volunteer who can sit with the Ioco Heritage photo display. We also need 12 volunteers with a dramatic spirit to participate in our heritage fashion show. Participants will be provided costumes appropriate to Ioco heritage. Please let me know if you are interested in helping out.
