Candlelight Vigil, A night of Solemn Remembrance

Youtube Clight Vigil Image

September 10, 2017

Featured in this video is the Great War talk by John Goheen on the Battle of Passchendaele followed by a candlelight vigil held in the trench at the Port Moody station Museum where Charlotte Cameron read from her book containing her one-act play Running: The Alex Decoteau Story, presented by PlayConnect. The play tells the story of Alex Decoteau who was the first Indigenous police officer in Canada, a runner in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, and finally, a message runner in the Great War who died at the Battle of Passchendaele.

Reenactment Video

Just before we start our week of Remembrance we are ready to share the video of our last reenactment. Our amazing volunteer, cameraman and video editor Gerrit deWaal just uploaded this great video.

The last reenactment featured a night raid and touched on the suffering of the many people who were displaced during the Great War.
