Sorina Ursu is an emerging artist, who grew up in Romania and became interested in art at an early age. She always loved to paint and draw, embracing both artistic dimensions by becoming familiar with different painting and drawing techniques. She managed to experiment a lot with different media, such as acrylics (tempera), water-colours, oils and mixed media, which gave her an opportunity to get familiarized with all sorts of techniques. She likes to paint or draw anything from landscapes, still life to abstract, embodying the original feeling as a source of inspiration. Her works render both motion and stillness, through a mixed colour palette. She is currently studying painting at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, BC as well as being a member of the Port Moody Art Association.

Arlene E. Wiebe resides in the Port Moody area, since 1982.  She is a mother of 5 and ‘Grammy’ to 3 grandsons. She is a self-taught artist and previous member of the Port Moody Art Association. Although she picks up the paintbrush from time to time, she designs creative floral arrangements (Inlet Floral Designs since 2015) and draws some more of her pencil pet portraits. She often does flowers for the info desk and lends other help at the Port Moody Station Museum. This mixed media painting called “Brought Together” depicts the strong connectedness of the Ioco Townsite community, such as in dance and in worship. Arlene hopes you will enjoy this unique, circle-themed rendition; it symbolizes the continuous, integral role of the Ioco United Church since 1923.
