Today in History: The Halifax Explosion

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the Halifax explosion, which occurred on December 6th 1917, during the First World War. Two ships, one of which was a munitions ship, collided in the Halifax Harbor, causing the biggest man-made explosion prior to the detonation of the first atomic bomb during World War II in 1945. 2,000 people died and 9,000 were blinded or injured due to the blast and tsunami that followed.
