Vimy eventTo celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary, The Port Moody Heritage Society is holding a Vimy Ridge event.
April 8 – 9, 11am to 5pm. Opening ceremony April 9, 1pm
The event will be dedicated to a part of Canada’s history which was crucial in bringing the country onto the world stage.
The event commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. This battle was a turning point in the Great War and placed Canada as an elite force amongst the allies.
Our celebration will open a window into the past by featuring the ingenuity and bravery of Canadians 100 years ago.
Following the ceremony, guests will enjoy many historic and unique displays. There will be a Sopwith Camel plane, a historic truck, a hospital train display, living history guides in Great War uniforms showing artifacts and giving talks. Tours through our Great War Trench.
We will lead our visitors to a rest from the battle front to Armentières where they will enjoy music, food, drink and the amazing Golden Spike Can-Can dancers.
