Canada Day Weekend!

DSC01151

The Port Moody Station Museum had a big Canada Day Weekend. On June 30th, We had a Trench Talk about the battle of the Somme and Beaumont Hamel. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the battle at Beaumont Hamel where a Newfoundland Regiment was almost completely wiped out in one day. We held a candle light vigil to commemorate those soldiers that lost their lives that day.

On July 1st, in the morning  we had the Telegraph Society teaching guests how to use the telegraph in the museum! Outside t13576349_10154274686394948_544680881_nhere was a kids area, where they enjoyed boll toss, a bubbles area and crafts!

At 5pm, we began our Newfoundland Kitchen Party! We had a great time. The lobster was delicious, the crowd was fun and danced throughout the night and the entertainment from NEWFISh was great! Thank you to everyone who came, we could not have done this event without our volunteers and a big thank you to the band NEWFISH and to Innovative fitness who let us use their parking for the night!
