On Wednesday, April 15 the Port Moody Heritage Society had the pleasure of welcoming riders from the “Communities for Veterans: The Ride Across Canada Foundation”. Paul Nichols and his wife Terry are heading across Canada on horseback to raise awareness for veterans. They started on Monday April 13 in Victoria and will end in Newfoundland in November. Over 700 veterans will join them throughout their trip.
This ride across Canada serves to “raise awareness for the veterans of today and discover their stories, learn about the challenges they are facing and raise funds to support veterans and their families. The group arrived in Port Moody on Wednesday April 15 and in the morning stopped at the Port Moody Cenotaph to pay tribute. They were then welcomed at the Port Moody Station Museum and given a tour of the McKnight Trench by Cary Price. Mayor Clay attended the tour and President of the Port Moody Heritage Society Robert Simons presented the riders with our “Tracks in Time” book. We want to thank everyone who showed up to welcome the riders, Cary Price for giving a great tour through the McKnight trench and Mayor Mike Clay for joining us.
