The Port Moody Station Museum is seeking two Museum Assistants for the busy summer season. We are hiring for 2 positions of 16 weeks (dependent on funding from Service Canada and Young Canada Works).

The Port Moody Station Museum now is inviting applications for the temporary Museum Assistant positions. The successful candidates will give tours, deliver programs to children and seniors, help with exhibit design and set up, assist with special events and do other varied duties around the museum.

The successful candidates will possess good written and oral communication skills in English, have good computer skills (MS Office 2013), are reliable, take initiative and have a desire to learn more of our Country’s past. We encourage the Government of Canada’s job equity groups however; we are located in a heritage building with stairs which does cause a barrier to some individuals.

To be Eligible you must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment; have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;  be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act3; and, be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

$12.50/hr plus 4% in lieu of vacation

Duration 16 weeks, 35 hrs/wk

Timeframe: Summer 2015, early May to early September

Language: English is essential, French an asset.
