In addition to our regular programs for school classes and out-of-school care groups, the Port Moody Station Museum is offering an exciting new education program this year. From May to November 2012, the Museum will host Chinese Legacies, an exhibit illustrating the contributions of Chinese in building the Canadian Pacific Railway. The exhibit depicts the life of the Chinese railway labourers in the 1880s, the lasting impact the railway had on their lives and their contribution to Canadian national development.
This 90min. interactive program is designed to compliment the Grade 5 curriculum and includes:
- a tour and scavenger hunt through the exhibit and station,
- a railway artifact matching activity,
- a short video presentation of Engine 371,
- and an opportunity for students to try to drive a railway spike.
Programs can be booked from May 14th to Nov. 16th, Monday to Friday in the morning or afternoon. Space is limited so book early! See our website for easy online booking.
The cost for the Chinese Legacies program is $97 per class (maximum 30 students). We are able to accommodate up to 2 classes in the same session.
