War of the Worlds

This morning on the BC Museums Association mailing list, we spotted an interesting ad: The War of the Worlds at Craigdarroch Castle.

An original adaptation of H.G.Wells’ apocalyptic tale of science fiction and horror by Giggling Iguana’s Ian Case. In the vein of The Fall of the House of Usher, audiences will experience a site-specific and unique vision of this literary masterpiece with the grounds and the interior of Craigdarroch Castle as a backdrop to the Martian invasion.

Starting next Thursday, “audiences are guided through both the Castle interior and grounds to experience the days leading up to the coming of the Martians, to see the terrible power of teh Martian Heat Ray, to shudder in horror at the first sight of the Martians…”

The event is part of the Ghosts of Victoria Festival. Highly recommended are the Ghostly Walks hosted by BC Creepy Canada host and writer of “Ghosts and Legends of Bastion Square”, John Adams.

(We also saw that Craigdarroch Castle has a Catch a Leprechaun event for the week of Saint Patrick’s Day, with “guaranteed leprechaun encounters” at posted times!)
